The trading terms that actually matter

Clear, no-nonsense definitions of the futures-trading concepts behind every Hunter AI signal — written to be understood, not to impress.

Rate of return (ROR)

Rate of return (ROR) is the gain or loss on a trade or account period expressed as a percentage of the capital committed, but traders should judge it alongside risk, not on its own.

Conversational trading

Conversational trading is a decision framework that uses a back-and-forth checklist to test a trade idea against regime, VWAP, funding, liquidity, and risk before entry.

Arbitrage

Arbitrage is a trade that tries to profit from a price mismatch between the same or closely linked assets while keeping market direction close to flat.

Chop

Chop is a low-structure market regime where price swings lack durable direction, liquidity gets churned, and stop-runs are frequent.

Day Trading: what it is, how it differs, and the risk rules that matter

Day trading is intraday execution where you enter and exit within the same session, using a full plan for entries, SL/TP, and volatility-aware sizing anchored to R risk.

Market regime

The prevailing market state — trending, ranging, or choppy — that determines which tactics work.

Order flow

The real-time stream of resting orders and aggressive buying/selling beneath the price chart.

Take-profit (TP)

A pre-set order that closes part or all of a position at a target price to bank gains.

Risk-reward ratio (R)

The ratio of potential profit to the amount risked, expressed in multiples of 1R.

Position sizing

Choosing trade size from how much you risk to your stop, not from conviction or available balance.

Stop-loss

A pre-set order that closes a trade at a defined level to cap the loss on that position.

Funding rate

Periodic payments between long and short traders that keep a perpetual future tethered to spot price.

Leverage

Borrowed exposure that multiplies both gains and losses relative to your posted margin.

Liquidation

The forced closure of a leveraged position when its margin can no longer cover losses.
