Why ARB’s move can tempt traders to over-size the next entry

A fast ARB move can make the next setup feel stronger than it is. The fix is to judge structure, volatility, and invalidation first, then size from risk—not from the size of the last candle.

A sharp ARB move can make the next entry feel urgent. That is usually where traders over-size: they anchor to the last candle instead of asking whether the follow-up trade still has a clean invalidation.

The real mistake

A fast move is not an edge by itself. It is just a move.

The next trade still needs structure, regime, and a stop level that makes sense. If those are missing, the candle is doing the talking for you.

What to do instead

For a long bias in a trend, a cleaner entry is usually a VWAP reclaim and retest, not the breakout candle. VWAP is the session’s volume-weighted average price, so it gives you a fair line to judge whether buyers are still paying up.

Keep size tied to R and ATR. If volatility is higher, size should come down. In a trend, a simple ladder around VWAP is often cleaner than chasing.

  1. Take about 30% on the first reclaim of VWAP.
  2. Add 30% on a confirmed retest with thinner sell-side depth.
  3. Add the final 40% only after a higher low forms.

If price closes back below VWAP on the working timeframe, cancel the rest.

Bottom line

Do not let the last candle set your risk. Let structure do it.

Check the live ARB setup in the bot and compare it with VWAP, ATR, and regime before you size in.
